The day before the sale, I went in on kdp.amazon.com (Kindle Direct Publishing) and updated the price of The Great Escapee Series box set to $0.99 and changed the rest of the country prices to the lowest with 35% royalty rate, which hurts compared to 70%!
But we’ll see how it goes.
I’m not big on ads, especially the ones where it’s a bid thing. The only bidding I want to do is at an auction and I’m bidding on a vintage wooden box. Or a rug. Or a book.
I created a couple of posts in Instagram, but I don’t see that books sell on social media. I’m adding this post to my website to document my author ad results.
I’ll update here how the ad goes.
4/11/2025 – So it’s after the ad, although sales still happened two days after, since I didn’t change the price back until 4/17/2025. So the ad ran for a week and a half–ten days.
On the actual day of the sale, 21 box sets sold.
On the next day, the 9th, 10 sold.
On the next day, the 10th, 3 sold.
Total = 34.
Estimated royalties on Amazon = $11.60
I did the math. $11.60/$95.00 = 0.12210 x 100 = 12.21%
So my return on investment (ROI) is 12%.
According to investment figures, that’s huge. 7% is an average on some websites, just with investments.
The only place that I posted about this sale was on InstaGram twice.
I’m happy. I’ll do it again.
4/16/2025 – 35 box sets and $11.97! With 12.6 % ROI.
4/18/2025 – As I update here on my website, this ad was not difficult. When there are many other things an author needs to do, like write, taxes, bookkeeping, publishing, this one is easy. Sign in. Sign up. Pay the bill. Change the price on KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing.) in time for the sale.
They do the rest!
This is my hope: since 35 people bought the set, maybe 3.5 will actually read it, and maybe two will decide to read on through the series of three more books = more book sales and more readers for future books.
