Terrified to Post My Facebook Ads for Authors Stats Here

by | Jul 13, 2019 | Writing | 0 comments

I'm sticking my neck out here and many of you know what I'm feeling. Posting Facebook ads for Authors stats, you say? It's either gutsy or downright stupid!

I purchased Mark Dawson‘s course, Self Publishing 101, back on March 22.2019 and purchased Ads for Authors at a discount June 17, 2019.

What I am doing today is posting my pre-course stats (which is terribly humbling and scary!) and will post updates periodically to have a place where I can keep

track and compare my progress. Seems like a good time to post these stats, for different reasons, as I am also starting to apply the book Profit First by Mike Michalowicz.

So here we go!

Facebook Ads Stats for July 8 2019 – Books published: Released – published in 2015, Rescued – published in 2016, Restored – published in 2019. Box set published in 2019. Nonfiction – Rage Rising: My Walk Through the Dark Tunnel of Anger – published 2018.

Books sold: (here's where it gets humbling!) Print – 460. Ebook – 69.

See what I mean? After taxes last February, (I'm in the USA) I realized I can sell print face-to-face. If someone will listen to my pitch, I can usually sell at least one book. But I needed to find a way to sell online–sell ebooks. It's a huge world out there. I listen to Joanna Penn all the time about going wide and I do publish wide. I listen to her so much that when I just enter “the” her website address comes up!

But. No one knows I'm here.

Hence, Mark Dawson's courses. I attended a couple webinars, took the plunge and bought his courses.

For my first jump into Ads Land, I set up a FB ad for Lead Generation. I am giving away the first book in my urban fantasy suspense series for free. Here is the link, in case you're interested in downloading it. I just wrote down the stats, not even knowing what they all mean! Like I said … I don't understand any of this, except what I spent–for the courses and the ads.

But I will.

Total for two ads, both lead generation: Results – 605, Reach – 3,398 people, Impressions – 7,017, Cost per link click – .23, Spent – $137.20, Unique link clicks – 399.

For those who are laughing at my stats, I'm not offended.

Ya gotta start somewhere. This is where it all started.

I'll be back with comparisons at the end of July.

Breathe.
