This isn’t fun to admit but for eight years now, I have struggled with book two, Rescued (Affiliate link to Amazon, or purchase here direct from me!) in my fiction series.

Rescued
From the very first edition after publication in 2016, the interior wasn’t right. There were a few things that needed fixing in the story, which I did. Who writes a perfect story? Who wants to?
Raised hands. I know. Me, too. I want to.
I revised it several times, uploaded it on either Amazon or IngramSpark and sent for a sample copy.
Every time, it was terrible. The story line was corrected but the font was small, making it hard to read. It was almost like I had never formatted it, which I had.
Sitting beside me on the floor is a stack of fourteen copies—all unsalable, in my opinion. I don’t want my products going out into the work like that.
So.
I tried again. But this time, I used the copy in Vellum (Affiliate link), which is an amazing tool. When I am ready to begin the publishing process, I compile in Scrivener to a Word docx, close Scrivener, and upload into Vellum.
There you can chose what style of interior you want for you book, a scene divider style. Totally format the interior so it looks as great as the cover (JD Smith Design LTD.)
It has taken me probably an active six months to get this fixed. I say active because it’s been going on far longer, but I wasn’t aware of it until a precious woman came to my table last November or so. She asked to trade out the books she had for large print.
It was that bad.
I traded hers out and from that day forward, I worked my butt off, checking it everywhere I had printed books.
Finally today, March 21, 2025, I received my sample copy from Amazon, and it’s the best it’s ever been. Very readable, the font is perfect, the style is exactly what I had formatted it to be.
Thankful.
Now on to order my inventory of books!
