I am a writer. I am an author.

I have had two people tell me–no demand–that there is no excuse to not blog–if indeed I am an author.

One was at an event on websites.

Another was just recently.

Again.

So where do I begin? My biggest problem is deciding what to blog about and keep it to a theme. Stick to a platform.

I write books about angels and demons, prison and drug abuse, abortion and addictions.

But what if–my favorite two words–I write some of what I journal? (Not all!) What if I write about the angels that I know are here? What if I write about the subjects that really interest me? (Structure of all kinds: bridges, foundations, buildings, book plots. The author business: how to blog (heh), research, affiliate income (when I get some), journaling.)

Kent Sanders from Daily Writer Life offers a free starter kit that includes “The Ten Commandments of Blogging: How to Write Posts Your Readers Will Love.” It's super helpful.

Another suggestion is How To Blog a Book by Nina Amir. And I have her book! Evidently I should read it and apply it.

I am a fiction author with 7 books published (8 if you count the work in progress.). I have actually written 11 (12 if you count … yeah, the work in progress.).

There's this on Jane Friedman's website: “The average author does not benefit much from blogging.”

Heh. Is that my excuse?

I'm still gonna try.

Again.
